Mailing Lists
Every project that is created comes with three mailing lists: This project provides the following mailing lists.
- <projectname>-devel: a list intended for discussion among developers. Subscription is restricted to registered developers, and is automatically arranged by the system.
- <projectname>-commits: a list that receives commit messages
- <projectname>-users: a list intended for general discussion on the project
The lists are "mailman" lists. A password for mailing list administration is sent to the project owner when the project is created.
All users of the system will get an e-mail once a month showing all their list memberships. Each list membership comes with a password that can be used to change the user preferences. Do not confuse this password with the administrator password.
For example:
Project lists
- meta-commits: a list that receives commit messages
- meta-devel: a list intended for discussion among developers (subscription is restricted to registered developers)
- meta-users: a list intended for general discussion on the project
- meta-test: Test mailing list to test the new feature
If you want to have more mailing lists for the project, you can request a new mailing list through the mailing lists tab.
Allowing non-member postings
If there is an e-mail address that needs to be able to post new messages but not receive the mails (e.g. your CI system) you can allow a non-member e-mail address to post by adding it to the non-member filters at:
Mailing list administration -> Privacy options -> Sender filters -> Non-member filters
